Last week beauty brand Rimmel London took  me and a few bloggers to the always happening city of Johannesburg for the opening night of SA Fashion Week. We stayed in the remodeled wing of the Crowne Plaza. My room was so gorgeous I wished I was staying the whole weekend!Unfortunately, I had to be back in Cape Town by the next morning to shoot a winter campaign. Albeit a short stay, I had a fantastic time sitting front row at opening night. My favourite show of the night was without a doubt Black by Black Coffee.

About This Look

I had seen this half coat by South African young designer Jenevieve Lyons last season and I had been dying to wear it ever since! I was super excited to get the chance to privately view Jenevieve’s collection and selected to wear this piece for SAFW.  Everything she designs is out of this world (literally) and I love her unique take on fashion and structure. Most of her collection has a sports luxe feel which resonates strongly with my style.

I posted a pic of this on Instagram and it caused a little bit of confusion. So the one side of the garment is a thick woolen coat. Completely warm and comfy fit with a pocket for your celly and everything. The other side is a heavy textured crop top – all combined by a sneaky zip running down the back. Walking around fashion week I had compliments flying left right and centre which was an awesome confidence boost (I needed it but that’s another story entirely).

When styling this initially I thought instantly of my new grey Nike cotton sports tights (comfy as eff). I added my white shirt for a more dressy look and thought I would wear my black AirMax Thea’s with this outfit. I changed to these space shoes from Topshop on the last minute!
