Hey guys! Took a little break from my blog last week as I recovered from a bit of a head cold and well, emotional trauma. Okay, its not that serious but I suffered a huge loss when I accidentally spilled coffee all over my laptop. Needless to say its a write off. But alls well that ends well, I am trying to stay positive and wait patiently for a new laptop so I can get back to blogging and getting my life back (queue dramatic music)
About This Look
We discussed sequins being a tricky trend for spring, if you missed this post check it out here. Playing on the same trend I got sent these Sissy Boy sequinned denims. As soon as I shared it on my snap I got a bunch of messages saying “how do you style those”. Admittiedly it can be tricky to style very sparkly pants or skirts but the key to giving your sequins enough attention is to pair them with something very basic and not too busy or trendy.
Pictured here I am wearing a plain black top and choker. The choker really gives me the edgy look I wanted without being over accessorised, since the choker and top are the same shade.
I kept it simple by pairing them with really high stilettos with buckles to bring up the silver in the jeans.
so my top 3 tips to styling sequins:
- Less is more, pair your sequins with basic matte accessories
- If you’re shining at the bottom make sure the top is matte, no sparkle!
- Play on structure, since the pants are quite sparkly I went for a high low top
